Alexandra leads

NEW DELHI: Russia’s Alexandra Kosteniuk allowed Chinese sensation, 14-year-old Hou Yifan to escape with a draw in the second game of the four-game final in the Women’s world chess championship at Nalchik, Russia, on Monday.

Kosteniuk had a rook and four pawns against Hou Yifan’s rook and an advanced central pawn. But the position reached a theoretical draw with the Russian not taking any risk to force a win.

The results: Final: Game Two: Alexendra Kosteniuk (Rus, 1.5) drew with Hou Yifan(Chn, 0.5); Game One: Hou Yifan lost to Alexandra.
