ACA Secretary XI posts win

VIJAYAWADA: ACA Secretary XI defeated President’s XI by 70 runs in the three-day selection cricket match for the ACA South Zone under-14 team at Anantapur.

The scores:

Secretary’s XI 221 & 244 for seven in 94 overs (A. Surya 80, Ashwin Hebbar 53, Vinil Kumar three for 19) bt President’s XI 274 & 121 in 33.5 overs (Chandrasekhar four for 20).

S&T posts win

Signal and Telecommunication Department defeated Mechanical Diesel Loco Shed by five runs in the SCR Vijayawada Division inter-department tournament for the DRM Cup at the Rail Stadium, here on Monday. Senior Divisional Finance Manager, K. Balasubrahmanyam, inaugurated the tournament.

The scores: S&T 117 in 20 overs bt Mechanical DLS 112 in 20 overs.

Ratna Raj triumphs

Railway Institute’s M. Ratna Raj defeated S. Srinivas of Government Printing Press 25-13, 25-12 in the men’s final of the Krishna District carrom championship that concluded at the IGMC Stadium, here on Sunday.

Double for St. Thomas

Nuzvid’s St. Thomas High School won a double by winning the under-14 boys’ and girls’ basketball finals in the three-day Krishna District Secondary Schools inter-school sports and games meet, here on Monday.

The results: (all finals):

Basketball: U-14 boys: St. Thomas (Nuzvid) bt Nirmala (Vij) 16-10; U-14 girls: St. Thomas (Nuzvid) bt ZP Girls HS (Nuzvid) 10-2.

U-17 boys: Nirmala (Vij) bt St Thomas (Nuzvid) 10-9; U-17 girls: ZP Girls HS (Nuzvid) bt St. Ann’s (Nuzvid) 10-8.

Hockey: U-17 boys: Vivekananda Centenary HS (Vij) bt ZPHS (Mopidevi) 1-0.

U-17 girls: Nirmala HS (Vij) bt ZPHS (Mopidevi) 1-0.

SAI scholarships

The following players will receive SAI sports scholarships for the year 2007-08 for their performance at National and university-level championships.

The players can collect the receipt proforma of SAI from DSDO, Krishna District Sports Authority, I.G.M.C Stadium, M.G. Road, Vijayawada.
