Bangalore: Demanding regularisation of services and increase in wages, members of Karnataka State HIV/AIDS Counsellors’ Association took out a protest rally from Banappa Park to Mahatma Gandhi Statue on Mahatma Gandhi Road in the city on Monday.

Shouting slogans and holding placards the protestors staged a demonstration in front of the statue for five hours. Later they submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who reportedly promised them that he would look into their demands.

Association president Venkatachalapathy and secretary Fayaz Ahmed said though these counsellors were appointed on the basis of postgraduate employees’ wage scale, they were being paid a mere Rs. 6,500.
