Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa appealed to the people of the State to exercise restraint in a situation in which anti-social elements are trying to disturb peace.

In a release here on Monday, he said that Karnataka was known for its religious tolerance and harmony. A section of people was falling prey to instigation by vested interests, he said.

The Government was committed to maintaining religious and cultural harmony in the State and would take steps to curb anti-people forces.

The anti-social elements would be dealt with sternly, he said. He appealed to the people not to pay heed to rumours, and to cooperate in the efforts to restore normality in the State.
