Move on negative marks dropped
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: The Directorate of Technical Education has agreed to withdraw negative marking system in the examinations of diploma courses following protests by polytechnic students from various colleges of the city on Monday.
The protest was jointly organised by the All India Democratic Youth Organisation, All India Democratic Students’ Organisation and All India Mahila Samskrathika Sanghatane. Director for Technical Education T. A. Parthasarathy and Assistant Director and Secretary of Technical Examination Board Anand Poojary met the students and agreed to withdraw the system.
V.N. Rajshekhar, State secretary of AIDSO, said the Government was bringing in “knee-jerk” changes in the polytechnic education without holding discussions with educationists, teachers and students.
