Bangalore: Axiom Education is conducting a national science and technology competition named ScientificA 2008 for schoolchildren. ScientificA will adopt a unique audiovisual methodology of assessing a student’s aptitude through his/her enterprise quotient. According to a press release, the competition, which began on August 12, will culminate in a search for the “Student Icon of India 2008”. The competition will be conducted in over 1,200 schools in 21 cities. The company has launched a website ( www.iken.in). Students can log on and be part of the competition online. Students of classes five to eight may participate in the competition, which will have four levels – school, city, national and final round where the winners will vie for the title. The school level will comprise an audio-visual test with 25 curriculum-based questions with the intention of identifying students’ understanding of concepts. In Bangalore, the school-level competition has been conducted in 43 of the 60 select schools. The competition is expected to end in the first week of October. The aim of this endeavour is to make students rediscover science and redefine their approach towards learning and understanding it. For details, visit www.iken.in
