Ganakala Parishat’s meet from tomorrow

BANGALORE: Karnataka Ganakala Parishat’s 39th Music Conference begins on Wednesday at Holenarasipura in Hassan district.

The five-day conference will have the Young Musicians Music Conference at the same venue.

This event will have artistes of national and international repute taking part. In every sense, this will be a fulfilling experience for musicians as well as music lovers.

The conference will be inaugurated by the former minister Harnahalli Ramaswamy at the Nada Mantapa, Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple. The evening’s concert is by violinist H.K. Narasimha Murthy. From September 18 onwards, the mornings will have discussions on music.

R. Vishweshwaran’s book, Vaaggeya Vishweshwari, will be discussed on September 18. In the evening, S.A. Shashidhar will give a flute recital, followed by T.V. Ramaprasad’s vocal recital. On September 19, while the morning sessions will discuss Manodharma Music, the evening will have a vocal recital by S.V. Narayana and later by Nagamani Srinath. M.S. Sheela will speak about the use of Carnatic ragas in H.K. Narayana’s light music compositions, which will be followed by a discussion on “the use of classical music for the younger generation”.

Suma Sudhindra’s veena recital will be at 5.15 p.m. which will be followed by T.M. Krishna’s vocal concert.

The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda will be the chief guest for the valedictory. H.K. Narasimha Murthy and T.V. Ramaprasad will be felicitated. Seven other musicians will be felicitated too.

Padmini Upadhya and party will give a Bharatanatya performance.
