A fashion show with a difference

Delightful duo: A Mother and daughter on the stage at the ‘Talent Mela for Talented Mahila’ at Kanyaka Parameswari temple, Berhampur, on Sunday night.

BERHAMPUR: Girls were accompanied by their mothers in decorative attires in a special fashion show organised in the city on Sunday evening.

New-age moms

Performing catwalk on the stage as pairs the mother-daughter duos proved that the new-age mothers were not ready to allow generation gap spoil relationships. This special catwalk was organised by JCI Berhampur ladies club. Most of the participants said that their mothers played a major role in the choice of dresses they wore . J. Nagmani and her daughter Radha were adjudged the best participants . The mother-daughter duo of P. Swati and Shiny were adjudged runners’ up. The show was the culminating point of a day-long talent mela for women.

The fashion show was preceded by a saree-tying contest where the contestants displayed their skills in wrapping the saree in different traditional formats. J. Sarita was the winner in this event. There were also contests for hairstyles, bangles and decorative lehanga-choli.

According to members of the organising committee P. Laxmi and M. Anuradha singing and debating competitions were held in the morning. During the lunch hour there was a special cookery competition where corn was the basic material of cooking which was followed by a contest of decorative gift backing.
