Barnala wants chambers to work with government

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Governor Surjit Singh Barnala on Friday said the State could achieve an all-around development only when the CII, the FICCI and other chambers of commerce maintained a close network with the government.

Delivering his inaugural address at the bi-decennial celebrations of the Sindhi Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Barnala said: “Trade and industry are two pillars of economy. As a chamber of commerce, it should be your endeavour to be in line with the pace of the changing global scenario. If all chambers of commerce and industry collective work in line with this objective, we can achieve an all-around development in the State and the nation.”

The Governor conferred the Outstanding Citizen’s Award on Prahlad P. Chhabria, Gulu Mirchandani, Jagdish Valecha and Deepak Arjundas. The Governor also honoured Sindhi Chamber of Commerce Gurumkh Kinger and six past presidents.
