One killed, eight hurt as cut-out falls

THENI: A 65-year-old man, Saleth of Anumanthanpatti village near here, died after a huge cut-out fell on him on Sunday.

Police said that when people were moving out of the venue of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam meeting addressed by its general secretary Jayalalithaa, the cut-out fell. Saleth suffered head injuries and died. At least eight others were injured.

They were admitted to Theni Government Medical College. One of them was sent to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. The body of Saleth has been sent for post-mortem.
