New Delhi: Expressing serious concern over Saturday’s serial bomb blasts in the Capital, former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on Sunday called for a national campaign for eradication of terrorism in the country. Mr. Kalam also suggested setting up of a national agency for investigation of terrorist crimes and expeditious disposal of terrorist related cases by the judiciary. Asked about the Indo-US nuclear deal, he said “I have expressed my views many times. It is good for the country as it will help in getting more power”. He was speaking after launching a website of Tamil monthly magazine, Vadakku Vaasal, being published from Delhi. In his lecture as a chief guest, Mr. Kalam said that at a time when terrorist acts were on the increase, it was our duty to create a conducive atmosphere for the people to live in peace. He said it was the duty of religious leaders to undertake a campaign on the importance of communal harmony and the evil designs created by fissiparous tendencies. He said it would be difficult to maintain communal harmony without creating a peaceful atmosphere. He appealed to the youth to face the challenges undaunted by problems that might occur in their pursuit of the goal. Mr. Kalam lauded the efforts of K. Penneswaran, Editor of Vadakku Vaasal for bringing out a quality magazine without succumbing to various pressures. He also released a literary volume brought out to mark the completion of three years of the magazine in the capital. He honoured S.
