In recognition of the meritorious services rendered by teachers at all levels from school to university, the Government is honouring them with ‘Best Teacher’ awards every year on Teachers’ Day. In this context, there is certainly a need to say that justice is not being rendered to the worthy and eligible teachers, which is certainly due to the interference of the politicians and other such factors. While selecting a teacher for the award, normally three main abilities – attendance, ability and character – are considered. Therefore, there is every need for the review and revision of the guidelines for selection of teachers for the award. Political interference should be avoided at every stage. I. Subhash Samuel Ulavapadu, Prakasam district Display clearance timings The postal authorities have provided a letterbox on platform number two of Kavali railway station. But the information regarding timings of clearance of letters is not being displayed on the box. Moreover, the most common indication of ‘no clearance on Sunday’ sign too is not mentioned on the letterbox. As a result, people are under the doubt whether the letterbox is being cleared by the postal authorities or not? The postal authorities are requested to display the clearance timings on the box to avoid inconvenience to the public. D. Satyamurthy Kavali, Nellore district Challenges for Praja Rajyam While N.T. Rama Rao launched Telugu Desam Party 26 years ago, the entire film industry backed him and strove for the party’s success. Now another film actor Chiranjeevi launched his Praja Rajyam Party and the film industry is divided into two groups, one to support the new political parties and the other group to back other parties including the TDP and the Congress. Most of the leaders joining the Praja Rajyam Party were from other political parties and seemed to have selfish motives. I wonder how this party can be called as a clean party and how Mr. Chiranjeevi can render service to the mankind with such kind of supporters. S. Vijaya Seshu Kothagudem, Khammam district Nip cricket betting in the budBetting on cricket matches is rampant in the recent times. As the game cricket is gaining popularity day by day, betting too is spreading its vistas from the metropolitan cities to small towns and even rural pockets. People who are into the cricket betting are ruining their lives losing huge amounts of money. At the end of every match, people are turning into paupers and their families are suffering. The authorities, therefore, should take stringent action against people involved in cricket betting. K. Kameswara Rao Mortha, West Godavari district
