Gopalakrishna makes Kaushik sweat

VISAKHAPATNAM: Local player K.S.V. Gopalakrishna made No. 6 seed V.S.S. Kaushik of Hyderabad sweat for a win in the second round of the junior boys’ event of the State-ranking table tennis tournament at the DSA Indoor Stadium, here on Friday.

Gopalakrishna lost 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 8-11 in a thrilling match.

This was the only match in which a seeded player faced real threat of elimination on the opening day of the tournament.

Most of the matches were one-sided affairs as the cadet, sub-junior and junior events were held till late in the afternoon.
