SAAP’s new approachThe Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh decided to have one academy for each discipline, by clubbing the existing academies in view of infrastructure and coaches available. It was also decided to lower the age of admission into the academies to under-22 years for most games and 10-8 years for special games like swimming and gymnastics. Sports Minister R. Damodar Reddy, who presided, suggested immediate completion of the selection process for the Sports School and Sports Hostels, Academies and also open a new Sports School in Visakhapatnam immediately. They also proposed to open Regional Sports Hostels soon at Tirupati, Guntur and Warangal.
