House on Kothari Road ransacked

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A group of people allegedly barged into a house on Kothari Road here on Thursday and ransacked household articles before forcing the residents out.

According to police, K.C. Palanisamy, a Coimbatore-based industrialist had purchased a house through the Debts Recovery Tribunal recently. However, the occupants of the house refused to vacate claiming that there was a case pending in the court.

On Thursday evening, about 20 persons entered the house and forced the residents out. On information, the police reached the spot and negotiated with both the groups. While restoring the house to the occupants, the police asked others to approach the court and get specific directions.

Based on a complaint lodged by Kamal Basha that the group attacked him, the Nungambakkam police have registered a case of trespass, criminal intimidation and assault against the accused.
