THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Overnight rain prevented host Thiruvananthapuram from scoring an out-right win over Kollam in the South Zone under-19 inter-district cricket tournament at the Agriculture College ground on Thursday. The host which had taken the first innings lead at the end of the first day was frustrated by the soggy outfield which ruled out a prompt start. When play started an hour after lunch Thiruvananthapuram increased its lead to 93 runs but was left with little time to dismiss Kollam in its second innings. Kollam ended the day at 88 for six off 31 overs. Thiruvananthaupuram took three points from the drawn match. The scores: Kollam 131 in 44.3 overs and 88 for six in 31 overs (Sreeraj 36, Nikhil Fracnis three for 15) drew with Thiruvananthapuram 224 in 53.3 overs (Jithin 92, Akhil Viswanath 61, Sreeraj five for 65).
