An initiative to achieve inclusive growth, says IT Secretary CHENNAI: Five thousand internet-enabled kiosks will be established all over Tamil Nadu, as an initiative to achieve inclusive growth, according to IT Secretary C. Chandramouli.He was speaking at the inauguration of the 43rd annual convention of the Computer Society of India (CSI) and 25th conference of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation here on Thursday. The target was to have one kiosk for every three villages. By October 50 per cent of the goal would be achieved, said Mr. Chandramouli said, urging the industry leaders to utilise these kiosks to reach out to rural people. In an attempt to tap talent in rural areas, training infrastructure would be set up in every district, Mr. Chandramouli said. Chief Secretary K.S. Sripathy said all districts would be fully computerised shortly. In the first phase, seven districts would be computerised by the end of this year. At the function, an Honorary Fellowship of CSI was announced for Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for his contribution to the development of IT. Fellowship awards of the CSI were presented to five distinguished persons in the field of IT, including J. Satyanarayana, CEO, National Institute of Smart Governance, and Ashank Desai, Founder of Mastek.
