Second day’s play washed out

HYDERABAD: Play on the second day of the A series’ second unofficial cricket Test between Australia and India at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was called off owing to wet ground conditions.

The decision was arrived at by the umpires after their 1 p.m. inspection found water still oozing in some sections of the outfield. Despite pressing two supersoppers into service for six hours at a stretch, all the stagnant water could not be soaked up and drained out. — A. Joseph Antony
