‘Aasara’ for all civic bodies

HYDERABAD: The Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development is considering replicating Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s ‘Aasara’ scheme in all municipalities to make life of senior citizens and physically handicapped easier and stress-free.

The 24x7 helpline to extend different kinds of services, concessions and facilities to senior citizens and physically handicapped was launched in GHMC a year ago by its previous Commissioner and Special Officer C.V.S.K. Sarma.

Dr. Sarmais keen to scale up the programme to cover the elderly and the physically challenged in other municipalities as well.
