Fire in Secretariat

HYDERABAD: A minor fire broke out in the chamber of Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhash Chandrabose located on the fourth floor of the “B” block at the Secretariat on Wednesday evening, due to electrical short circuit.

Although none was injured, it causing commotion among the staff for some time. The Minister was away when the mishap took place.

The staff in his office noticed smoke emanating from the chamber.

But before they could extinguish the flames with the help of police, who arrived by then, three plastic chairs and other material was burnt.

A divisional engineer of the AP Central Power Distribution Company in-charge of power supply to the Secretariat premises maintained that the fire was caused by spark following a short-circuit. This is the second fire accident that took place in the Secretariat within a span of four months.

Fire broke out last time in the Chief Minister’s chamber in the sixth floor of the adjacent “C” block.
