U.K. surgeon examines Basu

KOLKATA: The U.K.-based neuro-surgeon, R.P. Sengupta, on Wednesday examined veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu, whose condition is stable. According to sources in the AMRI Hospital, Dr. Sengupta was requested by the medical board to give his opinion on the course of treatment. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat and Congress leader Subrata Mukerjee visited Mr. Basu. — Special Correspondent
