LONDON: The U.K. All-Party Parliamentary Group for Tamils comprising, among others, the Labour MP Keith Vaz, urged the government to call for UN sanctions against Sri Lanka for its “inhumane” treatment of Tamils. The group said: “The violence unleashed against the Tamil people and the suffering they have been subjected to by the government, in the name of the fight against LTTE, is inhumane and unacceptable. The decision to bar foreign aid staff at this critical juncture, when these IDPs most need help of the aid staff, begs the question whether the government will ever adhere to international norms.”
