Low pressure area now well-marked

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The low pressure area that lay over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal turned “well-marked”, keeping the South West monsoon active over the State.

As a result of the low pressure area which is associated with “upper air cyclonic circulation”, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over several places in the State on Thursday, the State Met Office predicted.

Following incessant, heavy rain in Coastal Andhra in the past two days, several villages in West Godavari district were inundated. At Eluru, the Tammileru was in spate. The stream overflowed into several localities in the town and brought heavy inflows into the Kolleru lake.

During the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday, Khammam and Hakimpet Airport recorded a heavy rainfall of 12 cm and 7 cm, respectively.
