St. Michael’s ‘A’ wins

CHENNAI: St. Michael’s Academy ‘A,’ with nine points in the inter-Zone league, emerged winner in the CFA under-13 inter-School football tournament, here recently.

In the last match in the league, St. Michael’s ‘A’ defeated Lady Andal 4-2. Lady Andal finished runner-up.

Other results: St. Michael’s Academy ‘A’ bt St. Patrick’s AIHSS 5-2; Lady Andal bt St. Michael’s Academy ‘B’ 7-1; Lady Andal bt St. Patrick’s AIHSS 3-2; St. Michael’s ‘A’ bt St. Michael’s ‘B’ 1-0; St. Michael’s ‘A’ bt Lady Andal 4-2.

Seshant scores century

Seshant made an unbeaten 100 to set up a 48-run win for Prahlad CC against Bharat CC in the Kancheepuram DCA league (II division) recently.

The scores: Central Bank of India 134 for seven in 25 overs (S. Sathyanarayanan 40) bt Leo CC 125 for nine in 25 overs (Namachivayam 46, Parameswaran four for 47); Prahlad CC 194 for four in 30 overs (Seshant 100 n.o., K. Krishnan 40) bt Bharat CC 146 for eight in 30 overs (Kamal 40).

Union Christian wins

Union Christian HSS (Chetpet) won the Lala Indersain Memorial basketball tournament for boys, conducted by the DAV group of schools, here.

Lady Sivaswamy HSS (Mylapore) won the Shri Sathyadev Memorial basketball event for girls. Vidya Mandir SSS (Mylapore) won the Dayachand Memorial badminton tournament for boys and the Shrimathi Ben Shanthilal badminton event for girls. Forty-one boys’ and 32 girls’ teams entered the basketball tournament from various schools in the city, while 24 boys’ and 30 girls’ teams took part in the badminton event.

Thirushkamini sizzles

M.D. Thirushkamini made an unbeaten 84 to help City record a 43-run win over Combined Districts in the fourth u-19 one-dayer on Tuesday.

The scores: City XI 195 in 44.1 overs (M.D. Thirushkamini 84 n.o., Vidivelli four for 16) bt Combined Districts 152 in 42.4 overs (C.V. Swetha three for 10, Aishwarya three for seven).

Hindustan triumphs

Hindustan College and Ethiraj College won the men’s and women’s inter-Collegiate events at the Independence Day Cup district throwball championships on Monday.

The results: Inter-School: Boys: St. John’s (Baba Nagar) bt PS Main 15-11, 15-6; Girls: St. John’s (Mandaveli) bt Hindu SS 15-11, 15-8. Inter-Collegiate: Men: Hindustan College of Arts & Science bt Presidency 15-9, 15-4; Women: Ethiraj bt Sri Ramachandra 15-5, 15-9, 15-7.
