Awards presented

Chennai: The Thoothukudi District Cricket Association league cricket championship awards and prizes and the Thiliban Trophy were presented here. Classic CC was the first division winner, while Second CC was presented the Thiliban Trophy.

First division: Winner: Classic. Runner-up: Power CC Special prizes: Best batsman: Ramesh Kumar (Second’s ‘A’). Best bowler: Xavier (DCW). Best all-rounder: James Raj (Classic).

Second division: Winner: Ramesh Flowers. Runner-up: Youth. Special prizes: Best batsman: Soofi (Kayal). Best bowler: Dharmaraj (Ramesh Flowers). Best all-rounder: Subramani (Ramesh Flowers).

Third division: Winner: TRC ‘A’. Runner-up: SDR. Special prizes: Best batsman: Arun (Popes). Best bowler: Sasi (SDR). Best all-rounder: K. Siva Kumar (TRC ‘A’).

Thiliban Trophy: Winner: Seconds (Rs. 10,000). Runner-up: Youth (Rs. 5,000). Losing semifinalists: Power & Gavaskar (Rs. 2,500 each). Special Prizes: Best batsman: Narasimman (Seconds ‘A’). Best bowler: Godson (Seconds ‘A’). Best all-rounder: Reegan (SDR ‘B’).

Special prizes for outstanding performances in the inter-districts u-22 and 19 tournaments organised by the TNCA: James Raj (u-22), Marimuthu (u-22), Mahesh Kumar (u-22), Thirumani (u-22), K. Sivakumar (u-19), John (u-19).
