Remand extended for SIMI chief

AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad metropolitan court on Tuesday granted a further 14 days police remand to Safdar Nagori, who is considered to be the chief of the SIMI operations in the country, and four of his accomplices, including his brother, Kamruddin Nagori, and Ameel Pervez, another SIMI top brass.
Judicial custody
Safdar and others who were brought from Madhya Pradesh jails last month in connection with the Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts, were earlier sent to 13 days police remand which expired on Monday and they were ordered remanded to judicial custody.
The crime branch police, however, sought fresh remand for the five for the blasts in Maninagar locality which was granted by the metropolitan court.
