Five honoured for service to art and literature

CHENNAI: Five people, who have made contribution to literature and arts, were honoured on Tuesday, the 83rd birthday of former Minister and president of MGR Kazhagam R.M. Veerappan.

Tamil scholar T.V. Meikandar, journalist Moovender Muthu, photographer Yoga, poet Vaigai Selvi and Professor Padmavathi Vivekandan were given a citation and a cash award by Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veeraswami.

Recalling his association with Mr.Veerappan, Mr. Veeraswami said he was the only true follower of the late MGR.

Industrialist M.A.M. Ramasamy and Azhwargal Research Centre founder-secretary S. Jagathratchagam participated.
