Easy win for ASC

BANGALORE: ASC defeated Sports Hostel 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 in a State ‘A’ division volleyball men’s league match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Tuesday.

Other results: Men: KSP bt Postal 25-19, 25-21, 25-22; MEG bt SAI 25-16, 25-19, 25-17; CIL bt BEL 25-17, 27-25, 25-22.

Women: Mysore Sports Hostel bt Mandya 25-19, 25-9, 25-19.

Vinodh hits century

S. Vinodh’s 101 (192b, 10x4) guided Combined City XI to 206 for six against Combined Moffusil XI in a S.A. Srinivasan Trophy tournament match that commenced here on Tuesday.

The scores: Combined City XI 206 for six in 61 overs (S. Vinodh 101) vs Combined Moffusil XI.

President’s XI 245 for seven in 76 overs (Mayank Agarwal 79) vs Bangalore City XI.

Moffusil XI 211 for eight in 71 overs (Nitin Bhille 52, D. Raghavendra 44, S.K. Moinuddin four for 41) vs Bangalore Zone XI.

M. Nagaraj is president

M. Nagaraj and S.K. Nagaraj will be the president and secretary respectively of the newly-launched Association of Cricket Scorers and Statisticians of Karnataka.

The association was formally inaugurated at the Chinnaswamy Stadium premises here on Sunday. The chief guests were veteran sports journalist P.R. Viswanathan, KSCA assistant secretary Sanjay Desai and Sudhakar Rao, KSCA managing committee member.

The following office-bearers were elected during the association’s maiden general body meeting on Sunday:

President: M. Nagaraj; Vice President: P. Jayapal; Secretary: S.K. Nagaraj; Joint Secretary: G. Arun Kumar; Treasurer: T.K. Balaji; Working Committee: Ganesh Yagi, B.S. Jayakumar, P. Vimal Kumar and C. Keshavamurthy.

Manjunath, Chandrashekar shine

T. Manjunath’s five-wicket haul and Chandrashekar’s unbeaten 51 guided Young Challenging Cricketers to a four-wicket victory over Indiranagar Cricketers in a KSCA Group I, fourth division league match here recently.

The scores: Indiranagar Cricketers 195 in 42.2 overs (Ajay Sainis 46, Manoj 43, Zeeshan Ali 40, T. Manjunath five for 27) lost to Young Challenging Cricketers 198 for six in 44.1 overs (Chandrashekar 51 n.o., A. Manohar four for 61); Young Boy’s CC (Kolar) 146 for eight in 32 overs bt Merchants CC (1) 133 in 29.2 overs (Madhava Sharma four for 41); Visweswarapuram CC (2) 332 for five in 49 overs (Naqeeb 72 n.o., Bharath 72, Sudarshan 64) bt ACE Cricketers 229 in 46.2 overs (Mithun 60, Prasanna five for 72).
