Sensex dips
MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange sensitive index closed lower by over 44 points as the bourses looked to consolidate at the existing higher levels.
The Sensex, which gained over 400 points on Monday, recovered most of its losses recorded in early trade before closing at 14900.76 against Monday’s close of 14944.97.
Rupee sheds 23 paise
The rupee dropped by 23 paise against the dollar on Tuesday on good demand for the dollar from banks in view of higher global advices.
In active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian currency resumed lower at 44.70/71 against Monday’s close of 44.60/61, and dropped further to 44.87/89 before closing at 44.83/84. — PTI
