Scope for EU cooperation in nuclear projects

NEW DELHI: Asserting that nuclear energy would play a key role in achieving ambitious goals set for reducing emissions and generating clean power globally, European Commission’s Director General for Energy and Transport Matthias Ruete on Tuesday said after crucial Nuclear Suppliers’ Group waiver to India, there was great scope for cooperation between European Union and India on nuclear energy projects.
Expressing happiness over India’s diplomatic win at the NSG, Mr. Ruete said the stage was now set for the EU members to hold discussions on how to engage with India in its nuclear energy programme.
