Progress on new Metro line

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The first tunnel boring machine on the 20.16-km-long Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor of the Delhi Metro railway started work on Tuesday at Jangpura.

The machine will break through in December this year at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium after creating a 584-metre-long tunnel. While this machine will operate ‘down line’, another tunnel boring machine will be pressed into service on the parallel ‘up line’ in another 20 days.

The Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor has an underground section of 6.1 km comprising 4 stations: Central Secretariat, Khan Market, Nehru Stadium and Jangpura.
