Schoolboy murdered

Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD: The brutal murder of a sixth class student P. Mahesh, who was set ablaze, at his New Priyadarshini Residential High School at Yellammagutta, sparked violence in the town on Tuesday morning.

At least half a dozen persons, including students, sustained bleeding injuries in the lathicharge by the police when a mob ransacked the school as soon as news of the murder of the student spread.

The conditions in which the student died indicated that he was either burnt alive or burnt after being killed by unknown persons late on Monday night. Mahesh’s father, Sailoo alleged that his son was attacked as he had seen some illegal activity of the staff on the school premises. Police Inspector N. Lakshminarayana however said the reasons for the murder were not immediately known. But the police took into custody, school correspondent Prakash and his wife and principal, Pushpalatha. The victim belonged to Kunapally of Renjal mandal and was studying in the school along with his elder sister Vennela.
