CHENNAI: Sunny Patel made 130 (233b, 15x4), but C. Ganapathy (four for 27) and R. Ashwin (three for 70) combined to help TNCA XI dismiss Gujarat for 237 on the first day of a third-round Buchi Babu tournament encounter here.

At SRMC Turf, Karnataka off-spinner N. Ryan returned figures of six for 51 from 20.3 overs as Tripura was bowled out for 168. Karnataka lost three wickets in reply, including that of Test batsman Rahul Dravid (2).

Maitrik Shah (121 not out, 171b, 13x4, 1x6) and Ketan Panchal (62, 129b, 7x4) added 142 runs for the sixth wicket to rescue Baroda at VB Nest. Krishna Das claimed six wickets for Assam.

Good partnership

In another match, a 113-run stand between Rushi Raj (86, 139b, 6x4, 1x6) and Anoop Pai (80, 144b, 8x4) helped Hyderabad score 307 before being bowled out by Rajasthan at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

Half-centuries from Ashutosh Sawner (63, 157b, 7x4) and Brijesh Tomar (72, 135b, 6x4) propped up Madhya Pradesh at Murugappa, where G.V. Sharat Babu and and M. Suresh shared six wickets for Andhra.

Ravindra Jadeja took four for 40, as Combined Districts was bowled out for 171 by Saurashtra at CPT-IP. S. Suresh Kumar top-scored with 61 (158b, 4x4, 1x6).

Kerala shot out for 187

Usman Malvi and Vikrant Yelligeti took three wickets each, as Mumbai dismissed Kerala for 187 at Pachaiyappas ‘A’. The day’s play in the match between Himachal Pradesh and Vidharbha at RKM-Vivekananda was called off without a ball being bowled because of overnight rain.

Gujarat 237 in 84.4 overs (Sunny Patel 130, C. Ganapathy four for 27) vs. TNCA XI one for no loss in 0.3 overs.

Tripura XI 168 in 72.3 overs (N. Ryan six for 51) vs. Karnataka 79 for three in 27 overs.

Baroda 351 for nine in 90 overs (Satyajit Parab 42, Ketan Panchal 62, Maitrik Shah 121 not out, Krishna Das six for 79) vs. Assam.

Hyderabad 307 in 84.3 overs (Rushi Raj 86, Anoop Pai 80) vs. Rajasthan two no loss in 1.4 overs.

Madhya Pradesh 243 in 89.4 overs (Ashutosh Sawner 63, Brijesh Tomar 72) vs. Andhra.

Combined Districts 171 in 79.1 overs (S. Suresh Kumar 61, Ravindra Jadeja four for 40) vs. Saurashtra 19 for three in 16 overs.

Kerala 187 in 82.2 overs vs. Mumbai.
