Som Bahadur in pre-quarterfinals

BATHINDA: The defending champion Som Bahadur Pun outpunched Manoj Singh Mehra 16-4 to reach the pre-quarterfinals of the light welterweight category in the National boxing championship at the Giani Zail Singh Stadium here on Monday. Without stretching himself too much, the Services boxer landed his punches on his rival from Uttarakhand to emerge the winner.

Railwayman G. Thyagarajan pipped CISF’s Baljeet on countback as the middleweight bout ended on 20-20. The inter-Railway champion said, “There is a minor injury in my right hand. In the coming rounds, I will do well.”
