Court summons correspondent of teacher training institute

K.T. Sangameswaran

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the correspondent of a teacher training institute in Coimbatore district to appear before the court on September 11 in connection with a writ petition filed by students of the institute.

R. Gopalakrishnan and 25 others had filed a petition, seeking a directive to the Secretary, School Education Department, and the Director of Teacher Education, Research and Training to transfer the petitioners, with all their original records from Apollos Teacher Training Institute, Uralpatti, to the District Institute of Education and Training, Thirumoorthy Nagar, Udumalpet taluk, to pursue their DTEd.

The petitioners contended that Rev. Jabathoni A.M. David, correspondent of the institute at Uralpatti, had collected exorbitant fees, but failed to provide necessary infrastructure to enable the students to continue their study.
