TUMKUR: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday criticised the Janata Dal (Secular) for holding protest meets across the State against his Government. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he was at a loss to understand what was prompting the Janata Dal(S) leadership to organise the protests. His reaction was against the Janata Dal(S) plan to hold protest meetings in the districts on Monday against what that party leaders have described as the failure of the Yeddyurappa Government to address the grievances of the people and lead the State in the development sector. Mr. Yeddyurappa said: “I ask God what mistake I have committed for the Janata Dal(S) leadership to take such an extreme step against me. My Government is just completing its first 100 days in office. So soon, these leaders have found fault with me. I do not know precisely what is my fault.” Accompanied by Shobha Karandlaje, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Suresh Kumar S., Minister for Law and Urban Development and Tumkur district in-charge, and P. Venkataramanappa, Minister for Sericulture and Small Scale Industry (who is from Tumkur district), Mr. Yeddyurappa called on Shivakumara Swamiji, senior swamiji of Siddaganga Math, and invited the seer to inaugurate the Dasara celebrations in Mysore. The swamiji accepted the invitation. The swamiji had, last year, accepted the invitation extended to him by H.D. Kumaraswamy, the then Chief Minister, to inaugurate that year’s celebrations in Mysore. But, he declined to make it to the function following Mr. Kumaraswamy’s failure to transfer power to Mr. Yeddyurappa. Instead, Balagangadharanath Swamiji of Adichuncahangiri Math inaugurated the celebrations. Mr. Yeddyurappa promised to release funds for the development of civic amenities in Tumkur city.
