Triplicane post office to work on holidays too

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Following Mylapore and T. Nagar post offices, the Triplicane post office will also function on Sundays and holidays.

The counter services on Sundays and holidays were formally inaugurated by Chennai Corporation councillor, P. Nagarajan on Sunday.

While appreciating the services of Postal Department, he asked for the extension of same status to the Parthasarathy Swamy Koil post office located on Hanumantharayan Koil Street as it would help the large number of pensioners who live there.

Chennai City Central Division Senior Superintendent of Post Offices R. Venkataraman said that following demands from people and after seeing the demand at Mylapore Post Office, they decided to keep the counter services open on Sundays and holidays in Triplicane.

He pointed out that Triplicane being a business-cum-residential area, operations on Sundays would help the customers.

Benefit to students, officie-goers

“It will also benefit office-goers, students and other private sector employees. On Sundays and holidays, except on National holidays, you can get most of the postal services, except savings bank operations,” he said.

“As per the directions of the Chennai City Region Postmaster-General, M.S. Ramanujan, we are working towards providing services on Sundays at Nungambakkam and Teynampet post offices,” Mr. Venkatraman said.

He added that savings bank account operations would become operational in Triplicane post office after seeing the public demand. Speed Post delivery on Sundays is in the store for the customers soon, he said.
