Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: A reward of Rs. 50, 000 was announced by the Cyberabad police for giving information about offenders who escaped with 10 kg gold jewellery outside the cargo office at Shamshabad airport on Sunday.
After the incident, police cordoned-off important routes connecting the airport to trace the car.
Barricades were also placed at important areas in the city and its suburbs to check the vehicles.
Officials were examining images captured in surveillance cameras installed on the airport premises to identify the offenders.
The police were also collecting details of Adhist Raj gang from Mumbai which was involved in a sensational robbery case reported at the Nampally railway station on November 6, 2005.
The gang attacked agents of the same, Marudhar Courier Company, when they were out of the Nampally railway station and fled with seven kg gold in a Maruti Esteem car which they abandoned it later in Chintal Basti area in Khairatabad.
After a few weeks, the gang was nabbed with the help of a crucial clue provided by a Tamil newspaper (Mumbai edition).
Among the arrested were Adhist Raj, Punna Swamy, David Raju Tewar, all three from Tamil Nadu and Mani Appa Konar and Ibrahim from Mumbai. Two knives were seized from them.
