Musi beautification: GHMC chief for speedy work


Seeks more personnel, material for completing work on rubber dam across the river


HYDERABAD: The GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer, S.P. Singh, has directed the engineering wing to put more personnel and material into service for completing the rubber dam being built across the Musi since the work was behind schedule.

Mr. Singh pointed out that other projects of the Musi beautification programme too were lagging behind schedule and wanted the works to be expedited.

With senior officials in tow, he reviewed the progress of Muslim Jung Bridge, works relating to the construction of a modern slaughterhouse and electric crematorium at Amberpet on Sunday.

He visited areas of Amberpet, Chaderghat, Malakpet, Charminar and its environs. The proposed flyover site at Amberpet was inspected and another bridge over the Musi near Krishnanagar.

Festivals

Mr. Singh said elaborate arrangements were made for the smooth conduct of the Ganesh immersion procession and Ramzam festivals in the city. The GHMC chief along with the Police Commissioner, Prasada Rao, went around the procession route from Amberpet to Chaderghat, Malakpet, Charminar, Falaknuma, Balapur village and returned from Laad Bazar, Chatrinaka, Tappachabutra, Karwan, Asifnagar, M.J.Market and Abids before reaching the Hussainsagar lake.

Illumination works

Road repairs and illumination at various points are to be taken up while more sanitary works will be pressed into service, an official spokesman said in a press release.
