Sports journalist Ravishankar dead

BANGALORE: Doreswami Ravishankar, Special Correspondent (Sports) of The Hindu, Bangalore, passed away here on Saturday night. He was 58 .He leaves behind his wife and four children.

Ravishankar, who had been with The Hindu since 1994, was a versatile scribe who covered golf, motor sports, cricket and racing. He also covered the National Games of 1997 and 2002. Before joining The Hindu, Ravishankar had served in the sales division of Avery International and as a teacher with Valley International School, and as a sub-editor with Indian Express, Bangalore.

The Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) and the Sports Writers Association of Bangalore (SWAB) have condoled the death of Ravishankar.

The Karnataka Olympic Association President K. Govindraj and Secretary Anatharaj also expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. — Special Correspondent
