Congress, TD ‘wasted’ time of House

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The BJP has held the Congress and Telugu Desam responsible for ‘wasting’ time in the just concluded monsoon session of the Assembly.

The State president of the BJP, Bandaru Dattatreya, told a press conference here on Sunday that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu were to blame for the wastage of precious time of the Assembly by trading charges. Both threw democratic principles to the winds, Mr Dattatreya said.

‘Disappointing session’

Mr. Dattatreya said the Assembly session was disappointing because it failed to discuss the burning problems of the people like fertilizer shortage, delay in devolution of powers to local bodies and terrorism. Not only did the Government fail to provide replies to questions raised by members but launched an offensive against them.

He found fault with Home Minister K. Jana Reddy for failure to furnish satisfactory reply to a question of BJP member G. Kishen Reddy on the bomb blast in Hyderabad last year.
