Chirag shocks East Bengal

KOLKATA: East Bengal’s title aspirations suffered a blow as it went down 0-1 to Chirag United SC in a premier division match of the Calcutta Football League here at the Salt Lake stadium on Friday. Malaswama Hmar scored the winner.

Following the loss East Bengal went six points adrift of the league leader Mohun Bagan tallying 21 points from 12 matches. With two more matches to go it now looks remote that the team would be able to realise its dream of regaining the title. — Principal Correspondent
