Raj Thackeray barred from addressing public rallies

Mumbai: In the backdrop of fresh tension triggered by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s insistence on Marathi signboards for shops, the Mumbai police on Thursday barred him from addressing public meetings till September 30. The police sent a notice asking him to abstain from making speeches till the end of the month.

The notice was sent following a warning by Mr. Thackeray to all shop-owners, asking them to put up signboards as per the directive of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or face dire consequences. — PTI
