Governor’s message

I am pleased to learn that the University of Madras is holding the Valedictory function of its Sesquicentennial Celebrations on 5th September 2008.

The aim of higher education is to produce competent men in different fields contributing to the development of the nation. Creating excellence and dynamic leadership qualities in the youth is the need of the hour.

I congratulate the University of Madras for grooming many scholars and for carving a niche in the field of higher education. This University is a temple of learning and has dedicated itself with a commitment to society and the nation in the spread of education.

I am confident that the University of Madras would continue to dedicate itself to the task of academic excellence and social transformation.

I convey my warm felicitations to the Vice Chancellor, Faculty, Staff and Students and the Alumni of the University of Madras and wish the Valedictory Celebrations all success.

Surjit Singh Barnala
