Gajendra Singh’s hat-trick helps Rajasthan to a big win

CHENNAI: Gajendra Singh’s hat-trick took Rajasthan to a 275-run win over Assam on the second and final day of the Buchi Babu tournament first round match at the VB Nest here on Wednesday.

At RKM-Viveka, Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul enabled Saurashtra defeat Madhya Pradesh by 185 runs after the former made 341 for eight in its first innings.

M. Vijay scored a 134-ball 121 to guide TNCA XI past HPCA’s score of 177 at MAC. Vijay, who struck four sixes and 13 fours, was involved in a 131-run stand for the third wicket with N. Einstein (39 not out) as TNCA raced to the target in 42 overs. Mumbai registered a six-wicket win over Karnataka at Murugappa. Hiken Shah made an unbeaten 139 .

At SRMC-Turf, Baroda managed just 246 chasing Hyderabad’s 313 with Shoaib returning figures of five for 25. Satyajit Parab’s century went in vain for Baroda.

HPCA XI 177 lost to TNCA XI 179 for three in 42 overs (M. Vijay 121, N. Einstein 39 n.o.).

Karnataka 228 lost to Mumbai 229 for four in 44.5 overs (Hiken Shah 139 n.o.).

Combined Districts 175 lost to Andhra 177 for six in 61.5 overs (Gnaneswara Rao 73).

Saurashtra 341 for eight in 90 overs (Jaydev Niranjan Shah 54, Sheldon Philip Jackson 49, Pratik Satish Mehta 95, Rahul Rajendra Dave 88, Sunil Dholpure four for 78) bt Madhya Pradesh 156 in 64.3 overs (Ravider Jadeja five for 40, Rakesh Vinu Dhruv four for 37).

Rajasthan 377 for six bt Assam 102 in 29.1 overs (Deepak Sharma 43 n.o., Gajendra Singh four for 34, including a hat-trick).

Hyderabad 313 bt Baroda 246 in 78.1 overs (Ketan Panchal 43, Satyajit Parab 128, Swapnil Singh 49 n.o., Shoaib five for 25). — Sports Reporter
