CHENNAI: Gujarat defeated Vidarbha by six wickets in the first round of the Buchi Babu all-India cricket tournament at Pachaiyappa’s ‘A’ here on Tuesday. Left-arm spinner Sahil Patel took four for 13 as Gujarat restricted Vidarbha to 129 and knocked off the runs in 41.3 overs. Kerala registered a seven-wicket win over Tripura at Murugappa after dismissing the latter for 136. C.V.A. Jagadeesh and Rohan Prem were involved in an unbeaten 103-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take Kerala home in 36.5 overs. Suresh scalps eightAt ICL-Gurunanak, Andhra leg-spinner M. Suresh finished with outstanding figures of eight for 40 as Combined Districts was bowled out for 175. In reply, Andhra was at 59 for one. R. Ashwin picked up five wickets as TNCA XI dismissed Himachal Pradesh for 177 at MAC. Paras Dogra and Vinit Indulkar were involved in an 80-run stand for the fourth wicket before Ashwin broke the partnership.
