VIJAYAWADA: Krishna scored an innings and 105-run victory over West Godavari in the ACA Central Zone U-14 inter-district tournament for the Nagalla Lingaiah Memorial Trophy at the IGMC Stadium here on Tuesday. In the other match, Prakasam registered a narrow 14-run win over Guntur. The scores: Krishna 225 in 67.2 overs bt West Godavari 70 in 23.1 overs and 50 in 32.1 overs (K. Bhima Rao four for seven); Prakasam 222 in 82 overs and 40 in 24.3 overs (V. Mahesh four for 15, Krishna three for 10) bt Guntur 149 in 48.2 overs and 99 in 28.1 overs (K. Kalyan five for 26). Matches drawnBoth Kadapa-Anantapur and Nellore-Kurnool fixtures in the ACA South Zone u-14 inter-District tournament for Fr. Vincent Ferrer Trophy ended in a draw at Anantapur, according to information reaching here on Tuesday. The scores: Kadapa 223 in 72.2 overs (Jayawardane 83, Vinil Kumar three for 38, Chandrasekhar three for 31) drew with Anantapur 74 for five in 238 overs (Mazar thee for 14); Kurnool 169 & 112 in 55.2 overs (Kesava 48, Leela Mohan five for 25, Bose four for 36) drew with Nellore 147 in 56.3 overs (Bose 63, Kesava four for 45, Siddhartha three for 25, Basit three for 25). Interestingly poisedNorth Zone, which was restricted to 107 in its first innings, shot out South for 79 with M. Bharani Kumar, K. Siva Kumar and B. Ayyappa picking up three wickets each in the inaugural three-day round-robin match of the ACA under-16 inter-zone tournament at Vizianagaram, on Tuesday. But South hit back strongly in the second innings, dismissing North for 60. Left-arm spinner C. Vinod Kumar, who picked up five wickets in the first innings, scalped four and off-spinner K. Imtiaz claimed four wickets. Set a target of 89, South ran into K. Siva Kumar as he recorded a five-wicket haul, and was 73 for the eight at stumps on the second and penultimate day. The scores: North Zone 107 & 60 in 40.3 overs (K. Imtiaz four for 10, C. Vinod Kumar four for 26) vs. South Zone 79 in 52.2 overs (M. Bharani Kumar three for 14, K. Siva Kumar three for 16, B. Ayyappa three for 26) & 73 for eight in 27 overs (K. Siva Kumar five for 25).
