THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Crime Branch Inspector-General of Police Harinath Misra will head a team investigating the charges against public interest litigant Jomon Puthenpurackal. Director-General of Police Raman Srivastava issued an order to this effect on Tuesday following instructions from the Kerala High Court the other day. The team also includes Deputy Inspector-General of Police N.J. Vinod Kumar. Mr. Misra has the freedom to pick the other members of the team. The High Court’s direction pertains to 23 specific points concerning Mr. Jomon Puthenpurackal’s background. Appeal rejectedMeanwhile, the State Information Commission has rejected an appeal filed by Mr. Jomon Puthenpurackal claiming that the State Human Rights Commission had supplied him wrong information on its sittings at Guruvayur. Rejecting the appeal filed under the RTI Act, State Chief Information Commissioner Palat Mohandas and Information Commissioner P. Faziluddin observed that the appellant’s claim was not based on facts duly supported by valid documents whereas the public information officer and appellate authority of the Human Rights Commission had submitted unassailable evidence to substantiate their stand.
