London: There are various ways to show the world how much you love your dog. You could order it filet mignon from the butcher or get its paws done at the grooming parlour. Or you could spend £10,000 (about Rs. 8 lakh) on a collar and lead studded with real jewels and garnished with nine-carat gold — and geta matching belt for yourself. That is the offer launched this week by a company based in Cheshire, northern England, hoping there are enough people in Britain and beyond who want to know what to buy for the dog (and owner) who has everything. The products from Gladstone Collar Company are going on sale for the first time at Burghley Horse Trials, which start on Thursday in Lincolnshire, as well as over the Internet. Made from handcrafted English bridle leather — with sapphires and rubies set in gold buckles — the collars start at £2,950 and the leads from £3,300. For those not afraid of being what Vogue editor Anna Wintour sniffily terms “matchy-matchy,” there is the £4,950 handcrafted jeans belt for humans. — © Guardian Newspapers Limited, 2008
