Manjunath scalps five wickets

Bangalore: Manjunath’s five for 30 spell helped Vikram CC defeat National United CC by 79 runs in a KSCA Group I, fourth division league cricket match here recently.

The scores:

Vikram CC 177 in 47.2 overs (Sujith 74, Subramaniya Raju five for 44) bt National United CC 98 in 26.4 overs (Manjunath five for 30); Vivekanagar Cricketers 218 in 49 overs (Muthu 51) lost to BEL Colony RC 219 for four in 39 overs (Beerappa 59 n.o.); Jeevanbhimanagar CC 148 in 30.5 overs lost to Southern Cricketers 149 for four in 27.4 overs (Manohar 66, Vinay 43, Jagan four for 30).

Exciting win

BEL Sports Club pulled off an exciting 58-54 win in extra-time over Bhagwan BC (Gulbarga) in the State ‘C’ division basketball league championship courts here on Tuesday.

BEL led 25-22 at half-time, but at full time, Bhagwan equalised at 47. Mahesh top scored for BEL with 19 points, while Prashanth excelled for Bhagwan scoring 24 points.

The results:

BEL 58 bt Bhagwan 54; Rangers, Mysore 35 bt KPTCL 29; BSNL 44 bt YMMA 23; Dakshin Kannada DBA 50 bt Halasuru BC 36; Rising Star, Mysore 25 bt MICO 9.

A win for SWR

South Western Railway defeated Sports Hostel 25-13, 25-15, 25-15 in a State ‘A’ division volleyball men’s league match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts, here on Tuesday.

In another match, MEG defeated CIL 25-14, 25-11, 25-13.

Chess tournament
